UK EPR audit evidence and fee accuracy

Trace every reported packaging figure to its source, close supplier data gaps and enter each UK EPR submission with an evidence pack another reviewer can reproduce. Remedy automates the data work. Your team keeps review and submission approval.

  • Source-level evidence
  • Supplier data exchange
  • RAM and fee review
  • Export-ready audit pack
Why now

EPR has moved from reporting to proof

The first modulated invoices are landing, large producers are filing twice a year and the Environment Agency can ask how every figure was built. A dashboard is not an answer. An evidence trail is.

2026 fees

Modulation rewards evidence

Red-rated packaging carries a 20% increase and green-rated packaging a 9% reduction in 2026/27. The rating has to be supported, not just selected.

Audit

The test is reproducibility

An auditor can ask which products, quantities, component weights and classification rules produced a line. If the answer lives in someone’s inbox, the risk is yours.

Next regimes

The same data is reused

DRS launches in October 2027, the EU battery passport follows in February 2027 and PPWR declarations are already live. Each one needs the same product and packaging record.

Filing calendar: large producers submitted H1 2026 data and annual registration by 1 October 2026. H2 2026 data is due 1 April 2027. DRS producer registration is opening ahead of the 1 October 2027 launch.

The gap

Where UK EPR evidence usually breaks

Most reporting errors are not unusual. They are ordinary data handoffs that nobody owns between the supplier, the packaging team and the finance system.

01

Supplier data arrives late and unverified

Weights, material composition and recycled content are chased by email. The spreadsheet that finally arrives has no owner, no date and no attestation.

02

Figures cannot be traced to a record

A total is exported, adjusted in a spreadsheet and filed. The link back to the transaction, packaging component and source weight disappears.

03

RAM decisions are undocumented

The colour is chosen, but the evidence behind recyclability, component separation or material type is not recorded in a form a reviewer can test.

04

The audit pack is rebuilt from screenshots

When a query arrives, the team reconstructs history from email, shared drives and old reports. The result is slow, inconsistent and difficult to defend.

The Remedy evidence chain

One controlled path from supplier spec to submission

Automate the collection and checking. Keep the judgement and approval with your team.

STEP 1

Collect

Import CSV and ERP extracts, extract data from supplier documents, connect systems or send a zero-login supplier request. Every input keeps its source.

STEP 2

Validate

Apply UK EPR classifications, check component weights, detect duplicates and flag missing or inconsistent records before they reach a report.

STEP 3

Evidence

Link each figure to its source, record the reviewer, keep version history and preserve the calculation and RAM rationale behind the result.

STEP 4

Defend

Export an audit pack, compare what changed since filing and answer a regulator query with the records that support the number.

Audit pack

What belongs in a UK EPR evidence pack

A useful pack is compact enough to review and complete enough to reproduce the submission. It should be produced as part of the reporting workflow, not assembled after a query.

Remedy keeps the pack tied to the reporting period, so a later change to a weight or classification does not rewrite history.

Pack item What it proves
Submitted file and confirmation The declared totals and the date they were filed.
Source extracts The transactions, imports and sales behind the quantities.
Packaging master and component weights The material, mass and structure used for each SKU.
Supplier declarations and spec sheets Primary evidence for weights, materials and recycled content.
RAM assessment and evidence Why a packaging component received its rating.
Reconciliation Why reported mass agrees with purchasing, sales or import records.
Approvals and change log Who reviewed it, when, and what changed afterwards.
Methodology version The rules and assumptions that applied to that period.
Fee accuracy review

Find fee errors before the regulator does

The wrong household status, a nation split that does not match sales, a composite weight that was never updated, packaging counted twice or an export that was missed can all create a fee error. A focused review finds them before the regulator does.

A clear review, from source to action

FAQ

EPR audit evidence questions

Short answers for producers, finance teams and compliance schemes.

What is an EPR evidence pack?

It is the set of records that supports a packaging submission: the submitted file, source extracts, packaging master data, component weights, supplier declarations, RAM assessments, reconciliation, approvals and a change log. The pack should let another reviewer reproduce the number.

What does an Environment Agency EPR audit look like?

The regulator may ask how a figure was calculated, which products and packaging were in scope, how household status was decided and what evidence supports a RAM rating. The practical test is whether the records are complete, consistent and reproducible.

Can Remedy recover overpaid packaging fees?

Remedy can identify likely over-reporting, under-reporting and missing evidence. Any correction remains subject to your review, your compliance scheme or regulator process and the rules that applied to the period. We do not promise a specific reduction.

Can I see EPR fees by supplier and supply route?

Yes. Remedy links supplier orders, units and packaging records to the fee calculation, so you can view fees by supplier, supply route, material and nation. This is an analysis and allocation view; the producer remains the regulated entity responsible for the submission.

Does Remedy submit UK EPR reports?

Remedy prepares and validates the data and evidence used for a submission. Formal submission and approval remain with your authorised reviewer, compliance scheme or the route agreed with the regulator. Ask us to demonstrate the exact handoff for your process.

Can Remedy collect packaging data from suppliers?

Yes. Remedy supports supplier requests, document extraction and structured data collection so packaging specifications, weights and material details can be reviewed before they enter a report.

Does Remedy support DRS, batteries and PPWR evidence?

Remedy is built to reuse product and packaging records across UK EPR, Plastic Packaging Tax, WEEE, PPWR declarations, digital product passports and emerging deposit return scheme data workflows.

Is Remedy EPR a compliance scheme?

No. Remedy is a software and data platform. You keep your existing compliance scheme relationship and your team keeps responsibility for review, approval and submission.

Evidence review

Bring one reporting period. We will show you the evidence trail.

Use a representative set of SKUs, supplier documents and transactions. We will trace a figure, expose the gaps and show what the audit pack would contain.
